01
Squirrel Bridges
Longview is home to nine squirrel bridges to help the furry critters cross streets safely, high above the roads. Check out the history and a virtual tour of all nine around Longview's Lake Sacajawea, thanks to the city of Longview and University of Washington students, before you head downtown. Every August, the Rotary Club of Longview also hosts Squirrel Fest to celebrate Longview's favorite bushy-tailed creature.
02
Outdoor Art
Downtown Longview has an outdoor art gallery, donated to the city by a group of art enthusiasts, as well as murals curated by the nonprofit The Broad Strokes Project. The Outdoor Gallery includes 12 pieces, while there are nine murals and counting. Take a virtual tour thanks to the city of Longview, The Broad Strokes Project and University of Washington students, then a real one downtown.
03
Historical Sites
Commerce Avenue was planned to be the heart of Longview's business district. Deed restrictions required buildings to be constructed with mezzanine levels and be between two and eight stories tall. Many buildings still retain their architectural and historical character, such as the tile entries. Take a walking tour of downtown history using this city brochure.
