Longview Gingerbread Haus Contest

Launched in 2011 by Daily News staff members with a love of all things gingerbread, the contest drew 40 entries its first year and 25 entries in 2012. Now sponsored by the Longview Downtowners and hosted by Teague’s Interiors, the contest is free to enter and open to all ages and skill levels in a variety of categories: Local landmarks; heartwarming houses; other gingerbread originals; candy houses and other edibles (new category); and youthful builders (ages 13 and under). In addition, there is a category for professional bakers, chefs and culinary instructors.
Gingerbread artist Gail Wells will return to judge the contest, evaluating entries on detail, balanced proportions, consistency and realism/whimsy. Everything that’s visible on contest entries must be edible.
